Description
Rotulum hieroglyphicum G. Ripalei Equitis Aurati. For description see Catalogue entry for MS. 692: with the following differences: Title omitted at the top of the scroll. First and second poems omitted. Minor differences in spelling in the only two poems. In the marginal border is the inscription 'This longe Rolle w[as]/drawne in Colours/for me at Lubecke/in Germanye 1588'.

Ownership note
On the back of the canvas, very faded and indistinct, the inscriptions 'Ex Museo Nob. Com. de Yarmouth [i.e. William Paston, second Earl of Yarmouth, 1652-1732], and 'Johannes Ives de Yarmouth Norfolk' [i.e. John Ives, 1751-1776]. There is also a pasted-on label, slightly defective, inscribed 'From the Library of the Earl of Ashburnham, Appendix No. May 1897'. Sold at Sotheby's (Ashburnham 'Appendix' Sale) 1/5/1899, Lot 130.
