About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of the face of a boy who suffered from purpura haemorrhagica. Shortly before the drawing was made he suddenly had an effusion of blood beneath the mucous membrane of the tongue, giving to it a dark purplish colour. He also had haemorrhages beneath the conjunctiva of both eyes. Additionally, the patient had a congenital absence of nails on the hands and feet.
